IPM Essen is canceled
"The anticipation of the IPM Essen was great, especially after the past months full of renunciation, the more difficult it was for us to decide to cancel the fair", explains Oliver P. Kuhrt, Managing Director of Messe Essen. “However, it is our responsibility to enable our exhibitors to plan their trade fair participation seriously. In view of the fact that many of our customers come from abroad and are increasingly unsettled due to the difficult travel conditions, this is currently not possible. We therefore decided to cancel before the crucial phase of stand planning begins. "
In view of the latest infection events, there is great uncertainty, especially in important markets such as the Benelux countries or France, according to the message from Messe Essen. Nevertheless, the organizers of the green sector want to offer a platform on the planned date of IPM 2021 from January 26th to 29th and together with their partner associations are organizing a top meeting between decision-makers and politics. At the so-called IPM Essen Summit, decision-makers and political representatives are supposed to come together to exchange ideas about future topics in horticulture. In addition to this top meeting, according to Messe Essen, a digital format will provide an insight into the current development of the German and international horticultural market
According to Messe Essen, numerous market leaders had already confirmed their participation for IPM 2021, and there was also enormous demand from visitors for the live trade fair experience and personal exchange with business partners. “The green industry agrees that it urgently needs IPM Essen in order to be able to experience new plants up close again. The level-headed assessment of the current situation also shows how insecure exhibitors and visitors are due to the dynamic development of the coronavirus pandemic, ”said Eva Kähler-Theuerkauf, President of the North Rhine-Westphalia Horticultural Association and Chair of the Advisory Board. "The cancellation of IPM Essen is therefore very painful, for the international exhibitors, but a responsible signal at the right time."
The next regular edition of the world's leading horticultural fair is to take place from January 25 to 28, 2022 at Messe Essen.
